Best AI for research (with sources you can check)
One pick, one backup, real prices from our database. Rankings are not for sale.
Perplexity
Perplexity is the pick for most research: it searches the web live and puts a numbered citation next to each claim, so you can click through and check the source instead of trusting the model. It's fast for literature scouting, fact-checking and 'what's the latest on X' questions. If your research is mostly reading your own PDFs and papers, use NotebookLM instead: it answers only from the sources you upload. For heavy academic work, Elicit and Consensus search scientific papers directly.
